Below is some information that will hopefully prove beneficial to anyone wanting to learn more about the proposal. Please read through all of the information below. Tax Freeze or Ceiling – Age 65 or older
If you are age 65 or older, our homestead exemption also qualifies you for a tax ceiling on your school district taxes; that is, the school district taxes on your home cannot increase as long as you own and live in it. The ceiling also cannot expire if your home is made uninhabitable. The tax ceiling is set at the amount paid in the year that you qualified for the age 65-or-older exemption.

Summary of Bond Project:
New construction of Dublin Junior High School
A new junior high school is being proposed that will house 7th and 8th grade students. The new building would provide a much safer environment for the students and would allow DISD to offer our junior high students a first-class education in a first-class building that meets all current building codes and TEA guidelines. The total square footage for this building is estimated at 30,000 sq. ft.
Estimated cost of project: Dublin Junior High School - $4,200,000.00
Remodel current Junior High gymnasium
The current gymnasium would be remodeled to provide appropriate room for junior high athletics for both boys and girls. The wooden bleachers will be removed and the downstairs dressing rooms will be filled in to make a level floor throughout the gym. New retractable bleachers will then be installed on the floor. This will allow a larger playing surface to be used for practice time. This will also allow DISD to provide a handicap accessible, safe environment for families that come to watch their children and grandchildren compete in volleyball and basketball. New dressing rooms will be added to the building to provide adequate dressing facilities.
Estimated cost of project: Dublin Junior High Gymnasium - $700,000.00
Remodel current Junior High (old High School) building for District Administration
The existing junior high school building will be remodeled to create office space for district administration. This would allow the district to combine all of the district administration into one building and remove the portable buildings that are currently being used.
Estimated cost of project: Dublin Administration Building - $1,500,000.00
New Construction of PE gymnasium at Elementary Campus
A new PE/Activity Gymnasium would be built at the Elementary Campus. Currently, the elementary students are using the old cafeteria as their physical education area. The new gym would allow the Elementary students to use the cafeteria as a cafeteria. This would also remove the need for the elementary students to walk to the Intermediate Cafeteria for breakfast and lunch. This will increase the overall safety of the Elementary campus.
Estimated cost of project: Dublin Elementary Gymnasium - $500,000.00
New Construction of restroom/concession stand at high school baseball and softball field
Currently, players, coaches, and spectators are forced to use Port-o-Potty’s for restroom facilities at the high school baseball and softball fields. This plan would build restroom facilities and a concession stand that could be used by either field.
Estimated cost of project: Restroom / Concession Stand at DHS Baseball/Softball Field: $350,000.00
New Construction of dressing rooms at football field
Currently the football field does not have dressing facilities for the home team and the facility provided to visiting teams is outdated and in extreme disrepair. The proposal is to build two dressing facilities at the football field, one for the home team and one for the visiting team.
Estimated cost of project: Dressing facilities at the football field: $600,000.00
Estimated total cost for all projects: $7,850,000.00
Bond Proposal: 5,444,000.00
Local Contribution: $2,406,000.00
