Mrs. Hayhurst

Hello!

My name is Sophie Hayhurst and I am the Environmental Science and Anatomy and Physiology teacher at Dublin High School. I am super excited to be a part of the Dublin family and always look forward to a great and positive year. I began my teaching career in 2015 and have enjoyed learning and developing my teaching each and every school year.

A little bit about me: I am a loud and proud fighting Texas Aggie with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science. I continued my education at Texas A&M at Kingsville and received my Master of Science in Agriculture. My background education prepared me for a position in Agricultural Science. I have been an ag teacher and FFA advisor for 5 years before transitioning into the science classroom. I am very passionate about agriculture and natural resources. As the wife of a wildlife ranch manager, we spend many of our weekends on the ranch riding horses, hiking, hunting, and enjoying the native environment. I am very excited to bring my agricultural background to the science classroom to provide a real world view to these classes.

As an FFA advisor, I have trained state qualifying public speakers, state-winning agriscience fair projects, and national FFA top ten and silver medalists in the agriscience fair. I am very proud to support student leadership in this organization as well as promote science exploration. Additionally, I have written over $10,000 in grants and chartered FFA chapters from the beginning. I enjoy helping students earn scholarships, state recognition, and develop high levels of quality of leadership.

Positivity is a choice and my classroom has a high level of expectation of respect and learning so that students can best be prepared for whatever the students pursue for their career.
